Overview: Ira is a very dead person. Of course, like all humans, Ira does have certain strong feelings, but outside of the extremes, he doesn't have any emotions. He's a cold, heartless man, who would have no problem watching someone gut a living puppy, or even gutting the puppy himself, but take no enjoyment out of it. What's scarier, is Ira is well aware that there is something horribly deranged about himself.

History
Family History
The Solaris family history has never been a happy one for its members. Generations of inbreeding and arranged marriages lead many of its members to go insane and die and an early age, many before their 50th birthday. Many years ago it was established that each child from the Solaris family would be entered into an arranged marriage with their Sylas cousins.

While the inbreeding wasn't as bad as some, the efforts to keep the blood ?pure? was clearly having damaging affects with each new generation. Some children were born with mysterious metallic colored eyes, such as Ira and his siblings, while others were born with life-threatening birth defects. Much like the citizens of Sparta thousands of years before, if the product of the arranged marriage wasn't desirable, it was discarded like trash.

Only the strong and healthy were worthy of the name Sylas or Solaris. Each new generation of children became more and more likely to be thrown away due to birth defects, just as the adults became more engrained into their traditions and determined to keep the bloodlines clean, unwilling to introduce new blood even at the expense of their children. Ira's parents are blood cousins, just as their parents, and their parents before them. At least one child from the family is placed into an arranged marriage with the cousin that is closest to their age. As Ira is the third born child, he has no obligation to the family traditions because his older sister, Isabella, already married the Sylas counterpart and produced several children.
