Name: Orion Lethe Desaevio
Zodiac: CancerBirthday: July 7th
Age: 20
House: Ravenclaw
Year: Seventh
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Birth Place: Athens, Greece
Patronus: Iberian wolf
Wand: Cedar and dragon heartstring. Twelve inches, rigid.
Appearance:Close cut light brown hair covers Orion's head, making his facial features more noticeable, and contrasts vividly with his pale green eyes. Dark eyebrows hang over his eyes, giving him a rather mysterious, but inviting person, while his actual pale orbs hold a haziness of tight control within them. An angular face with high cheekbones and a strong jaw, Orion's masculinity is never questioned. His long nose rests just above pale pink lips that are almost always pulled into a thoughtful and deep look. The five o'clock shadow is always around the male's mouth and chin, the dark stubble giving him a bit of rugged look.
Orion has a lean body, with a solid mass that keeps him grounded very well. His feet are larger then most boys his age, but give him his well earned balance and stance. Long, defined legs lead to his upper body, which is also clearly defined with broad shoulders and a strong back. Though his long sleeves cover them, his arms are very strong and muscular, toned by the many years he spent as a boy working with cars and tools. He has large hands with strong and calloused fingers, often stained with grease and oil. Tall, but not obscenely so, Orion stands out just enough to let someone know he's there, but doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. So, standing at six foot five and weighing in at two hundred thirty pounds, Orion isn't going anywhere unless he wants to.
Being from Greece, Orion has a slightly olive colored skin tone from the many hours he spent outside working with his father in his garage. His complexion is for the most part clear, except for the ragged pot marks that dot up and down his arms and hands, some from being cut by metal, others from having been burned by sparks from welding. Other then the scars that the boy carries on his arms, he is devoid of body modifications, although, he is not against getting some in the future.
A simple man that is easily pleased, Orion's style is laid back but still proper in appearance. While it is relaxed, it can never be said that is sloppy or lazy, as he takes good care of all his clothing, even his work clothes that often get smeared with grease and dirt. Dark, faded jeans usually sit low on his hips, and do a good job of covering most of his enormous feet, as he prefers the kind that flair out at the bottoms slightly. As the boy is from a warmer climate on the earth, he is always wearing long sleeved shirts that he leaves untucked from his pants. Over his fall colored shirts, he is usually wearing his black jacket, just to take the edge off. To complete his 'it's always Winter' style, the boy wears an olive green beanie over his head to keep his ears warm.
Because he is terrified to sleep, Orion's eyes are puffy, with dark circles underneath. The Ravenclaw often looks high, because his eyes are glassy and bloodshot from his lack of sleep.
Personality:Not considered smart by other Ravenclaw standards, Orion isn't very academically based. He thinks that school is a waste of time, and has yet to be interested in any of the classes that he ever took during his education at Hogwarts. He does his work with minimal effort, just doing enough to get by and not fail. The boy has great potential to be one of the smarter students at Hogwarts, if only he would apply himself. Unfortunately, he is more interested in the mechanical type things that normal wizards would have no use for.
Often in his classes, Orion can be spotted doodling nonsense pictures of engines, or simple machines in the margarines of his papers, trying to best figure out how he might get something to work, or work more efficiently. He is often the student that frustrates his teachers the most, because even when he isn't paying attention, he can follow along in class, and answer any question the professor might throw at him correctly. Orion is a master at pulling things from nowhere, then receiving full marks on the paper much to his teachers, and others chagrin.
Quiet and uninterested in anything that isn't a machine of some sort, Orion speaks very little, and depending on what he is speaking about, he will either be very attentive and excited, or bored and uncaring. When it comes to talking about cars, engines, or any sort of machine really, there is a spark that erupts behind his pale eyes, and a wide smile spreads over his face, creating dimples in his cheeks. The boy is an absolute genius when it comes to anything machine like, being quite capable to repair, make adjustments, or just build something completely from scratch in a matter of hours.
Because he is a rather reserved boy when it comes to anything other then mechanics, Orion doesn't have many friends, and the few that he does have know him the best. They know that he is more involved in his school work then he lets on because they know that the boy would never allow himself to fail a class. When around his friends, Orion is different then when he is in class. He is more open to laughing and even jokes around. When the opportunity presents itself, Orion would go to any means to help his friends out, however, his friends rarely ask him, so he often cant prove how much they mean to him.
Gentle and observant, Orion very rarely ever gets frustrated with anything. He is patient and hardworking, determined and stubborn, and can't let anything go. One might call Orion OCD, because he is unable to leave anything unfinished, and will simply put everything else on hold and forget about it until he finishes whatever he is doing and it is absolutely perfect in his opinion. Funnily enough, this same work ethic does not apply to academics, as he just gets by with the bare minimal.
Like all people, Orion has his secrets, and his darker side. While on the outside, it may look like Orion is decent enough kid with a few quirks, the inner Orion is a turmoil of dark thoughts and feelings. He is full of self loathing, confused and utterly terrified of himself. While it may look like the male doesn't care either way to be around people or be left alone, quite simply, he is scared to be alone. When left alone, he starts thinking things, frightening things, things that would normally have no place in anyone's head. When left alone in the dark, the thoughts are even harder to escape, as not soon after, Orion will start to carry on internal dialogue with himself about sinister intentions.
Because this happens most often at night, Orion finds it very hard to sleep. To chase the thoughts away, he usually stays awake in his common room, sitting up at one of the tables and tinkering with one of his many contraptions, keeping his mind occupied until his classes the next day. This has happened since as long as he can remember, so Orion has built up a high tolerance of going on little to no sleep for days on end. It isn't until the weekends that the lack of slumber finally catches up to him, and he passes out, unable to be woken until Sunday evening. Sometimes during the week, Orion will black out, and not remember anything at all from the time he was blacked out.
It is more then likely that Orion is insane, as it is only a matter of time before the boy completely snaps.
Family: - Hyrieus Desaevio, 45; father -
mechanic - Euryale Desaevio, 43; mother -
baker - Cassandra Desaevio, deceased at 10
History:In the beginning of Orion's life, the boy had a very normal run of the mill family, with a mother, a father and an adorable little sister. Mr Desaevio ran a small auto repair shop out of the family garage, and often employed his only son to help out with costumers, and cleaning the shop. Eventually, when Orion was old enough, the man started to teach his son the more advanced techniques it took to be a real employee at the shop. So under the guidance of his father, Orion became to understand, make connections and even build his own machines. Mrs Desaevio ran a small bakery down the street from the house, and just like Mr Desaevio used Orion, Mrs Desaevio used Cassandra to help out around the store.
The family was very close to one another, very big on family values and family time. Being so tight-knit, naturally, Orion and Cassandra became very close, even with the two year time gap between them. They were inseparable from one another, and the best of friends. Orion looked out for his little sister, protected her, and did everything he could for the girl, while Cassandra looked up to her older brother for guidance and advice.
However, Orion had been having the dark thoughts in his head since he was a little boy, and frightened that his parents wouldn't love him, never told them anything, finding his own way to cope with this darker side of himself. This was unfortunate, as both Mr and Mrs Desaevio could probably have helped Orion, and prevented the tragic event later on in life. However, both of his parents were clueless, and had no idea that the boy didn't sleep, chalking it up that he was just too eager to keep working on his machines. They had no idea that the boy was really chasing away dark thoughts and actions by keeping himself awake, uncomfortable and busy.
Coming from a Muggle family but being magical, no one could explain why strange things would happen with or around the boy, such as tool being levitated around him when he concentrated on his little projects. It wasn't long after that, when the boy was ten, that the family received notice of Orion's magical properties from the local Greek school, asking him to attend. His mother and father were ecstatic to know that Orion would have more in his future then just cars or cakes, and agreed to send him off to the school. Cassandra, while only slightly jealous of her older brother, was also happy for him, though she knew that she would miss him terribly.
Orion spent the next two and a half years at the school, finding somethings interesting, but mostly wished to be at home with his father in the garage, or hanging out with his sister. While he didn't much pay attention, he still learned lots, and came home every break to share his new found knowledge with his family. The smiles and encouraging looks on their faces left Orion with a sense of accomplishment and pride. Not soon after his second year into school did Cassandra start showing signs of magical properties also. As was the same with Orion, her parents were extremely happy and pleased to have two magical children. Orion of course was also excited to have his sister accompany him at school, happy to have her back in his life and able to share one more thing with her.
However, Cassandra started to notice Orion's lack of sleep, and soon questioned him about it. Thinking that his sister would be frightened, or even disgusted by him if he told her the truth, he shrugged her off. Cassandra was not to be deterred though, and pestered Orion to see someone about his insomnia, pushed him to talk about what was wrong. All the interference from Cassandra started to annoy the boy slightly, and it soon became even harder to block out the thoughts in his head, even when he was working on his contraptions.
The thoughts started to manifest themselves into actual voices that spoke to Orion, telling him to make his sister shut up, to get her to go away and stop bugging him. Of course Orion fought them, refused to listen to the dark voices in his head and tried his hardest to ignore the demands of the voices. He distanced himself from his sister, tried to keep her away from him, and vise versa in order to not tempt the sinister thoughts and voices. This method of coping worked well for the boy, though he missed his sister terribly.
It wasn't until Christmas break that his coping method was put to the real test. Cassandra had told her mother and father about Orion not sleeping, and that she had heard him muttering to himself sometimes while working on his projects. She told them that Orion had shut her down and told her to shut up when she asked him about it, and that after that, he had been horrible to her, yelling and shouting at her. When Mr and Mrs Desaevio confronted Orion about this, the boy had no idea what they were talking about, having no memory of shouting at his little sister. Confused and suspicious, his parents had no choice but to let the topic drop.
That night, as the rest of the house was sleeping, the voices grew loud in his head as he worked, telling him that his sister had betrayed him by talking about him to their parents. As hard as the boy tried, he could not block the voices out this time. They were angry and demanding that the problem of his sister be dealt with and be dealt with accordingly and swiftly. Strong palms grew sweaty with the strain of fighting off the thoughts and actions that the voices demanded he take.
The next morning, Orion woke to the shrill screams of his mother and the dull sobs of his father. Not knowing what had happened or what was going on, the boy ventured into the hallway, and followed the sounds to his sister's room. What he saw there the boy would never forget no matter how hard he tried. There was blood everywhere, and the room was a mess with sheets torn from the bed, book cases were on end with their contents spilled on the floor. In the middle of the floor was his mother, cradling the dead body of Cassandra as his father watched on with horror.
The following murder investigation turned up very little, only that Cassandra had been killed from blunt force trauma to the head and the weapon used was the girl's bedside reading lamp. The family was distraught, and wondered why anyone would do such a thing to them. Orion himself always had his suspicious that he may have had some involvement with the death of his sister, though he was quite unable to face this fact. How could he ever be capable of such a thing?
Following the tragic and still unsolved death of Cassandra Desaevio, the family was quite unable to deal with the memories of living without their youngest member. Less then three weeks later, the family was packed, and ready to leave their home in Athens. Mrs Desaevio had learned of another school somewhere in United Kingdom that was in the business of educating young wizards. So with this in mind, the family up and moved to a quaint little brick house in the country side where the sent Orion as a transfer student to Hogwarts.
Transferring into Hogwarts during the middle of third year and placed into Ravenclaw without a thought, Orion remained much the same as he always was: quiet, disinterested in anything except machines. However, a new guarded side manifested itself in the boy and he became even more reserved then he already was. The next few years that Orion was at school were spent well, as even though he didn't pay attention much, he still learned and experienced much.
The voices in his head are still there, and no one but Orion knows about them, and he plans to keep it that way, as he scared that they will lock him up for it. So, since his third year, and all the way up to his seventh and final year at Hogwarts, Orion has kept that he hears voices to himself, and kept it his deepest secret that it might actually have been he who murdered Cassandra.
Goals in Life:Open his own mechanics shop, find a way to stop the voices in his head.
Fears:He fears that one day his dark thoughts will consume him, and he will turn into a 'bad wizard' with no self restraint. Being alone for extended amounts of time, or worse, being left alone in the dark. It is also his fear that he was the one that actually murdered Cassandra, though he has never voiced any thoughts about this to anyone, fearful of the repercussions that he might be faced with.
Other:Orion is a schizophrenic insomniac.
People often call him Odie, much to the boy's irritation, though he would never voice this. (It means refer to Orion as Odie every chance you get.)
